To Complete Level 1 Class, the dancer must accomplish the following skills in addition to required skills for previous levels:
A. Ballet – (Student must be able to execute each movement successfully without coaching as well as know proper terminology.)
- Degages en croix
- Petite Battement
- Echappe Releve
- Retire
- Maintain proper balance in alignment in 1st position releve
- Port de bras
- Correct placement in 1st arabesque
- Beginning glissade
- Beginning Jete
- Beginning Assemble
- Beginning Pique
- Chaine turns (must be able to spot)
B. Jazz
- Proper kicks
- Improved flexibility
- Co-ordination of arm movements with basic kick, walks, etc.
- Tuck jumps in parallel passe
C. Tap – (all steps must be done correctly with proper timing & clear sounds)
- Buffalo
- Irish
- Maxie Ford
- 3-step turn with toe-heels
**Students should remain at this level until these movements are accomplished properly. Time spent at this level is expected to be 2 seasons but it is not uncommon to take longer.
